“Good, but don't go near the eyes”-August 5, 2009
I have only been using this product for a week, so haven't seen any obvious results. I use it at night and my skin does feel nice in the morning, not greasy like some night creams. What I don't like is the strong smell, which smells like aromatherapy products. It stings if I get it too close to my eyes, and if I rub it onto my lips I end up with a bad taste in my mouth. I do like how I don't need to use too much of the product, and my skin does look and feel good.
i love this product, i've notice my face looking smoother and my skin texture is nicer now than before use. the smell does not bother me at all i have started the jump start kit and and also like the vitamin c powder for am use with hope in the jar cream i would recommended for those who has sensitive skin, it is very soothing

“It's just...okay.”-April 14, 2009
I have to say I was nervous about trying this moisturizer, so many either do not hydrate enough or cause breakouts and added shine. This one, while it did not cause breakouts, only seemed to make a mild difference. I did notice my skin looking better, but I have to believe it is simply from adding extra moisture to my sunscreen-only regime. I did love the texture of this, rich yet light and spreadable-it sunk right in to my skin. The smell is a little off but it disappears fast and is no longer an issue for me. Overall I liked it and was happy it worked well with my sunscreen, but it needs something extra.

“Make-up optional is so ambiguous”-February 20, 2009
My sundamaged, wrinkling, acne-prone, approaching 40 skin got exactly what this cream claims, nothing exceptional. Finally, a product that delivers what it promises, save the "make-up optional" part. As if. Seriously, go back and read. This cream is for normal skin with few issues other than mild dryness & faith in antioxidants, which I do support. If that is you, then you will be very pleased. The value for the benefits - a very decent moisturizer for normal aging skin with possible long-term benefits, is great. I've never had issues w/product in my eyes or overpowering smell (which is love it or hate it). It just didn't work for me, which was an error in my judgment (even I got sucked into a promise of makeup optional). One note: I, and I see loyal followers, noticed the difference in product freshness/effectiveness when Philosophy started offering the larger size. The smell and color are "off" after using the larger size for a couple weeks.

“glowing beautiful skin”-October 23, 2008
Is what you will get when you use this moisturizer. It's hands down the best around. Give it time to sink in and do it's job before applying makeup and you will reap the benefits. Glowing gorgeous skin. I've been using this over 6 years now.

“Great for oilier skin”-October 7, 2008
I tried this product after reading positive reviews. I have oily skin so was reluctant to use a moisturizer. I apply this product at night after Help Me. These products have made my skin very soft, even toned and glowing. No oiliness or breakouts. Just beautiful skin. I would not be without this product after seeing the results!!!

“The BEST!”-September 23, 2008
Best cream ever. Had been using it for 5 years and will never go back to those smelly parfumed creams most people are used to. To those who have a problem with the smell of Hope In a Jar - it is your habit and addiction to all the additives that you are putting on your skin for years. If you are breaking out when you just started with this cream this is a sure thing that your skin is cloged! While exfoliating it clears all that junk you accumulated with "nice smelling creams" you've been using for years. It will pass in a couple of weeks. If after 5 minutes you still feel that it sits on your skin you slathered WAAAY too much. It should sink in in a matter of seconds. One jar lasts over 8 months for me and I have the driest skin! Cannot tell though! I am 45 years old and in my office they think I am 32.

“nice feel shame about the smell”-September 3, 2008
The cream is light & feels nice on the face, however, there is a lingering smell which I cannot define, especially on the hands when used to apply the cream. I have used the sensitive cream and it doesn't have the smell, in fact the scent is a lot more pleasant. After I finish my current jar, I may return to the sensitive hope!

“Perfect”-September 2, 2008
I have loved this moisturizer for years. It's so odd to me that people have made negative comments about the scent. I love the way it smells, very clean and not perfumed.

I love this moisturizer. Light, goes a long way. Use very little. After reading all the reviews I smelled the jar, and must say found NOTHING offensive. Great product. Will order again.

“Hype in a Jar”-August 29, 2008
Don't bother with this one, it doesn't do anything for the skin, which almost feels dryer than before ( not sure how it's possible but it is) and the smell is awful. I loved the booster caps from Philosophy, they are pretty good. However, I doubt I will buy either again.

“smelly”-June 2, 2008
This stuff really makes me gag so I only use it at night . I got a small jar in a gift and was having a hard time getting past the smell. I have found it to be the best moisturizer for exfoliating and softening the skin.

“terrible scent!!!!!”-March 14, 2008
I love philosophy, especially their scents....not in this case. I can't even tell how well this works because the scent is so horrible and overpowering at the same time. All day long, even under my makeup, the scent lingered and this would not be bad, say, if it smelled like anything else, but this is just so bad that I can't use it. Maybe it is a good moisturizer, but until they change this horrific scent I will not purchase it.

“Hope - Nope”-February 28, 2008
Do not like this. Made my cheeks break out in itchy bumps. Stopped using it for a few days and tried again - got the same ugly results. As others have commented, do not like the scent either. Too bad bc I love many of Philosophy's other products.

“Hope, but not for me”-February 25, 2008
I never got to find out how "great" this product is because it clogged my pores and made me break out. I feel so bummed about my wasted $$ as I don't like spending a lot on creams. I only did on this thinking it would be a good product.

“Sorry..gotta pass this one..”-January 17, 2008
I have thrill result after using the Philosophy dermabrasion peel kit - just on my first application(!). So soon after I washed my face, I decided to try the "Philosophy Hope in a Jar" sample which I received. And this was about half an hour ago..and I'm finding myself holding my breath(not exaggerating) - even till right now as I am typing this. The smell is not pleasant and a bit too strong I must say! And I'm already thinking to wash off my face soon after I'm done with this review cos I need to re-start breathing properly! Hehe.. I think people who have very dry skin might like this cos for sure it is no doubt moisturising I must admit. The texture of the cream is not too heavy "during application", but despite of that, it also does not absorbed completely into the skin. I'm saying this cos I'm touching my face with my finger tip and it's still left greasy. So I can't imagine on the day with the summer hot weather. And because of this, I'm giving this a pass. Would just stick to my cheap Garnier nutritionist moisturiser for the moment until I find the perfect moisturiser!

“Great Post Chemical Peel”-December 25, 2007
I tried a small travel jar of this ($15) after i had a medium depth TCA peel, all i can say is WOW. It made a huge difference, unlike the creams the Dr. sells or samples out to use after the peel this didnt make me break out, it doesnt have a super heavy feel to it. It seemed to help the flaking skin flake faster while keeping the new pink skin moist. I went back to the Dr. a week later and she was floored by how fast i had healed and how even my skintone was soo quickly. I usually do 1 TCA peel a year, and this is the first time I havent looked like a burn unit. The only down side is that once my skin had healed it seems this is too heavy for my combination skin. It does make a fantastic hand cream tho.

“Mediocre”-November 20, 2007
I had high hopes for this product when I read all the raved review. But I have to say the results for me were disappointing. I have dry skin and this product actually left a greasy oil slick on my face. But the worst is the smell. I'm a research chemist and the smell of this product reminds me of chemicals that I wouldn't touch without double gloves, let alone put on my face.
