I had been using the Skinceuticals 1.0 retinol but found my skin was too sensitive. I 'backed' it down a notch and tried the .5 and so far I haven't experienced any redness or irritation.

I've been using SkinCeuticals Retinol for years and I truly believes it works. Retinol has made my wrinkles lighter and my skin is smoother. Also, I believe the dark spots on my face have been minimized. I always get compliments on how young I look "for my age". I'm concerned about the pump not dispensing all of the product like the other reviewer mentioned - that's the only downside.

Why hasn't SkinCeuticals fixed this...
”
-June 3, 2011
I sent this review to SkinCeuticals, and see on here the same complaints I have that are OVER A YEAR OLD! Why haven't they addressed this? Pump stops working when product is only 1/2 gone. My bottle stopped dispensing product but still felt heavy, and it took a pair of pliers and muscle to finally get the top off. There sat a good 1/2-bottle's worth of product, now exposed to oxygen. At this price, this is unacceptable, and since it's been over 30 days, I'm out all that $$.

I can't be without this one - my sensitive, mixed, breakout-prone skin would not be what it is without this retinol product. It is not too harsh, yet it keeps me pimple-free - wrinkle-free and fresh looking. I use it every night for a couple of years now, and whenever I run out and stop using it for more than a couple of weeks, I can see either a pimple popping up, or how my skin starts looking very dull. I am now considering switching to the higher concentration one.

better packaging
”

I have been using this for a month now, have seen some small changes. I recently bought the pigment regulator. The packaging is the same, (pump), u can not regulate how much comes out. There is waste. You also will lose product in the bottom of container because u cant get to it. Product in a tube would be better, u would then get it all out or at least more and regulate how much comes out at one time.

Great product---horrible packaging
”
-February 21, 2010
I found this product to be very effective. My skin feels very smooth in the morning. I'm getting ready to start the 1.0 and I'm looking forward to even better results. The only con I have for this product is the packaging. I had to use a pair of pliers to get the top off because I knew there was more product in the container. There was, a lot. Packaging seriously needs redesigned.

Works but...

I bought this a year ago and was very pleased with the results. However, I noticed that I could only use this once a week (maybe 2) and my skin was RED. It looked like I had a very bad sunburn all the time and my skin is NOT very sensitive. My skin would actually feel like it was burning if I tried using it more frequently. I switched to Skinmedica and I have been much happier, with excellent results.

Great for Wrinkles and Acne prone skin
”
-December 5, 2007
I swear I've spent thousands of dollars trying to clear my hormonal acne and treat my wrinkles at the same time. I've tried retinol in the past and had a bad reaction (differin). This strength is great for us who want to ease into retinols. My skin texture, clarity and pores look so good that I am hooked. It's now my HG product to use at night. You will peel at first. If it is too irritating, buffer it with a serum or a moisturizer. I use Estee Lauder Advanced Night repair and mix a pea size amount with it. Teo times a week until you build up a tolerance. I now use it every night without a problem with peeling or redness.

Smooth Skin...
”
-October 9, 2007
I seriously have tried many "high-end" products from dermatologists and plastic surgeons in the relentless effort to improve the appearance of my skin. I used this product and noticed smoother skin within a few days. It really does work and is not irritating like Retin-A. My face is clearer and brighter...I am so glad I found this product. I use the Obagi foaming cleanser first. I use Yonka dermol after this and the combo really makes a diffcerence. Thanks Skinstore!!!

This is an excellent product that delivers. Saw results fairly quickly and was left with glowing skin, improvement in fine lines, and faded acne marks.

I have been using this for years, I use it every other night. Tried the 1.0 and it is just too strong. I hear that my skin looks great often and I think this and the Skinceuticals CE Ferulic are the keys to that!

This product is quite good. I use it 1 - 2 times per week and I do see some peeling, but it's not to bad. Surprisingly the small bottle lasts a long time (maybe 6 months). I'm very fair w/blonde hair and I'm hesitant to go to the 1.0% forumula...the .5 works well for me.

After using SkinCeuticals Retinol 0.5 three times, the container will no longer dispense the lotion. Needless to say, I am very annoyed that this $42.00 is wasted.

My dermatologist sold me this product. It works great and the .5 solution is great for those of us who can't do full strength retinol.
