A lifeline for dry, sensitive skin

-March 2, 2013
I've used this product consistently for 12 years, with very good results. Application can be a little tricky, especially for people used to a very smooth or viscous product, but as the description states, this is a balm. I rub a pea-size amount of the balm into my fingers, then literally press it into my face, smoothing as the product warms and "releases". It takes a few extra minutes than the typical night cream, but it has been worth it for my highly reactive (rosacea-prone) skin. The rose oil immediately calms any irritation or inflammation and the emollients provide the needed moisture to my dry skin. If it is a particularly cold or windy day, I sometimes even apply a tiny amount over my daytime moisturizer before I head outside. Maybe there are other great products out there for super-sensitive skin, but this product is high quality and has worked very well for me the past dozen years. I love it.

Excellent Balm

-January 12, 2012
This is for really dry skin. It is a true balm that feels thick and wonderful. Makes my skin really comfortable but may be too much for summer. But for now it is just what my thirsty skin needs.

Morning Moisturizer!

-May 21, 2011
I have allergies to soy, pork, and dyes and this has been the only moisturizing product I have found that is senstive to my face. Absorbs quickly so I can put on my natural foundation powder right away. A little bit goes a long, long way--my last jar lasted me over a year!!

My skin: "ohhh thanks!"

-May 20, 2011
I never review products but saw a negative review of this one and thought, oh noooo I have to counter that! This is one of my favorites, and I'm really really picky - once I finally find something I love, I stick with it forever, so, hey Decleor please never stop making this! It's like my skin's comfort blanket - the effects of any potentially irritating treatment I've used are always calmed by using this an hour later. I'm 25 and have started using medium-strength tretinoin cream for anti-aging (prevention!) and I'm convinced it's this balm, which I apply over the tretinoin every night, that has kept my skin from being the mess typical of initial tretinoin use. Have started using the day serum too, because I love this so much. Not related to effectiveness, maybe, but: I love applying this, it kind of forces you to give yourself a gentle, heavenly-smelling facial massage. My skin is crazy dry, but I definitely break out if I use the wrong thing, and I'm super pale so prone to lots of redness, and I have to say this balm helps deal with all those problems. If you like working with your skin instead of against it, I heartily recommend this.

not good at all

-November 28, 2010
Unfortunately this not work for me at all. After 3 days of use (at night) my face is covered in red bumps. It is either an allergy or future pimples - I cannot tell yet.
I have quite sensitive skin, mixed (very dry on the cheeks, and not so dry on the nose and chin). I will have to use this for some very dry areas of my body (like heels, elbows and hands) because this is way to heavy for my face.

very moisturizing

-April 22, 2010
I'm a total product junkie and have used literally hundreds of different products at skinstore but I absolutely love decleor products for winter months. I'm going to some of the products that I use right now and my routine because I find it helpful and fascinating to see what other people use.
I've used decleor's creams/balms, body oil, and a face oil. I have sensitive, acne prone, dry skin and it hasn't caused any problems for me. I did find it too heavy and moisturizing during summer time but during the winter months in NYC, it's one of my staples.
I use the balms first then yonka creme 11 to soothe my dry, irritated cheeks. (Of course that's after toner-murad essential c, eye serum-quintessence/decleor, face serum-astara but haven't found one that I really like yet, but before sunblock-celazome 29/La Roche-posay anthelios.) During night time I alternate between a prescription strength retinol and a night cream such as Kinerase Pro theraphy or Z.Bigatti. During warmer months which is now, I switch out to Purlisse and Skyn Iceland brands.
Initially I found the fragrance of decleor products a little too intense since I tend to like lighter scents but now whenever I smell it, I feel relaxed. It's like aromatherapy.
For cleansers I love Boscia for face and also their shower gel. It's very gentle but squeaky clean with a pleasant fragrance. I get acne on my body sometimes so I alternate with Peter thomas roth blemish bead shower gel. I also use Astara Blue flame 1x a week (adding a moisturizing mask during winter time), go get facials 1-2x a month, and see my dermatologist 2x a year. I get my body exfoliated and massaged at a spa 1-2x a month.
