At least I only paid for the travel size.

-July 2, 2014
Recently, after undergoing a minor cosmetic procedure, I was instructed to use only a gentle cleanser for ten days. As that meant my beloved Jan Marini bioglycolic was off the table (or vanity, I suppose) I decided to pull out the travel size of this that I had set aside for emergency situations.
I have a fairly standard set of steps that I follow when cleansing. Basically, apply the cleanser to dry skin, add a little water, "lather," let sit a few minutes whilst getting the shower started, then add a little more water, massage around (adding a little more product of deemed necessary), and rinse well.
After all that, a process that SHOULD leave my face clean (even if not squeaking), I stepped out, looked in the mirror, and was dismayed to see makeup still on my face. I'm not talking impossible-to-remove waterproof mascara. I mean face makeup...the ONE THING a face cleanser should remove. So. I did it all again in the sink this time, right in front if the mirror, determined to wash it all away.
No luck. Not only that, but I felt a yucky, rubbery residue left behind.
Luckily for me, I ADORE the rest of the Somme line and broke out my Transport Pads to take care of what the cleanser couldn't. Too bad it took two whole pads before the makeup was finally demolished.
To sum it up, seeing as it's marketed as a cleanser but doesn't actually CLEAN, I can't review this highly or recommend. Two stars, however, as at least it doesn't smell like a cat box and didn't turn me into a toad. I suppose it could always be worse.

I love this entire line

-February 7, 2014
Somme Institute products have my skin looking the best. When I first used this line I wasn't as happy with it because the serum and A-Bomb left my skin feeling sticky. No more. The key is to use them sparingly. I love the cleanser. It's very gentle and smells incredible.

Unique, but effective cleanser!

-September 21, 2011
My skin is extremely intolerant and easily breaks out. I have had problems with oily and acneic skin since I was 18 and have tried, pretty much, every product out there (including Proactive). I have even been to the dermo for antibiotics and anti-acne medication.
Nothing has worked as well as Somme. Their entire product line is amazing and gentle on your skin. And, as I am getting older, I want to focus not only on my acne, but on preventing lines, wrinkles and discoloration/scarring.
This line will brighten your skin within the first week, improve complexion within the following 2 weeks, and by the fourth week, acne is reduced/eliminated.
I went off Somme earlier this year to try something new/save money, and my skin immediately broke out and was very UNhappy. Within one month of being back on Somme, my skin is glowing, happy, and nearly acne free.
The cleanser is the most unique cleanser ever. It is extremely effective, and you'll notice when you dry your face on a towel afterwards that there won't be any makeup on the towel. I think the reason it throws people off is that it feels as if you are rubbing a moisturizer on your skin, not a cleanser. But you'll get used to it--and love it--when you notice how soft and happy your skin is. Drying your face is like drying a smooth baby's butt! My skin is balanced and calm, not red or irritated as so many clenasers can make your skin.
And it really does get out impurities. I have oily skin and this stuff feels great without over-drying my skin or making it feel greasy.

I love other Somme products but this cleanser is a glorified Cetaphil which is much cheaper.( I have never liked Cetaphil either.) This just does not get my face clean and feels like slime on my face even after it is removed. I used with my Clairisonic and still my face feels unclean.

OK

-October 25, 2010
This cleanser is just ok. It's got a weird texture (it's like a cream) for a cleanser and even though it did leave my skin clean, it wasn't anything special.
